Maud Newton grew up in Miami and graduated from the University of Florida with degrees in English and law. Her short stories and essays have been published widely in literary journals and national newspapers. In 2004 she was awarded the Irwin and Alice Stark Short Fiction Prize from the City College of New York. She lives in New York City.
